Department of Surgery was one of the first departments that was established at Pawana Hospital and has always been staffed by very competent and established surgeons. With the modernization of the hospital, addition of sophisticated laboratory facilities and state of the art imaging services round the clock, the department has grown leaps and bounds and is recognized as a modern and dependable Center for emergency and routine surgical work. It is now known as a tertiary referral center and caters for patients not only from Maval but from all over the Pune region. All types of major and very complicated procedures are carried out regularly in Modular Operation theaters equipped with modern operative instruments and anesthesia machines. It includes all types of abdominal surgery like major organ resections, emergency laprotomies, laparoscopic minimal invasive procedures like cholecystectomies, hernias, appendicectomies, resections, thoracic surgery, cancer surgery including head and neck surgery, breast surgery, Abdopelvis Oncosurgeries, Anorectal procedures with the use of staples, and major trauma and emergency work. The operation theatres are looked after by dedicated and highly trained staff. The department of Surgery works in Collaboration with other Surgical Superspecialities for post op care and speedy recovery of patients.

This department was established more than 10 years ago it was the first neurosurgical referral unit in Maval area. It has established itself as one of the finest in the Taluka today. The department can boast of being able to treat all neurosurgical conditions with its experienced consultants and supporting staff and has always been in the forefront in introduction of new techniques and technologies. The department is equipped with state of the art monitoring equipment, CUSA, multifunctional operation table with Mayfield 2000 skull clamp. Budde Halo retractor system, Aesculap retractors, micro drill and micro bipolar cautery systems. Surgeries for vascular ailments like aneurysms and AVMs are done with expertise. We also provide various other neurosurgical surgeries like cortical decompression, posterior fossa decompression, VP shunting, Drain surgery of raised ICT in pediatric patients, ventricular shunt & draining etc. Neurotrauma Neurotrauma unit is an integral part of the Neurosurgery department and has NTU bed s for close monitoring. Prompt and dynamic treatment is offered for patients with head injuries for diagnosis, monitoring and surgical treatment in the live saving time. Neurosurgery departments deal in treatment- surgical and medical-of spinal problems. Various ailments like atlantoaxial dislocation, cervical disc prolapses, spinal tumors, lumbar disc prolapse, syringomyelia, spinal dysraphism etc. are offered neurosurgical treatment.

The Physiotherapy Department Pawana Hospital has also adapted itself and changed to become a multispeciality department, which aims to help the patient to recover normal physical functions and return to everyday activities at home and at work. Recent Developments in our sub- rehab areas are as follows: Ortho Rehab Microwave Diathermy Cardiac Rehab Arm Ergometer New Additional Programs Cardiac Rehab Weight Loss Program Functional Electrical Stimulator (Walking Man II) It is an EMG Triggered functional electrical stimulator which is a biofeedback treatment modality that combines patients own strength with functional electrical stimulation. The device also includes built in walking exercise mode for patients who suffer from paralyzed limb or ambulation in central nervous system disorders such as stroke. SPINE SURGERY

Department of radiology offers clinical services to the entire hospital for Indoor and outdoor patients. The clinical structure of department is organized in the following subspecialty divisions. Ultrasonography and Color Doppler: This division provides a comprehensive range of procedures, whole body sonography, biopsy, drainage and other USG guided procedures in the department. The unit has high resolution probes with facilities of Transvaginal, Transrectal and superficial soft tissue as well as musculoskeletal USG. A portable and intraoperative ultrasonography is also provided for Intensive care unit and Trauma patient as well as for intraoperative purpose. The department of ultrasonography and color Doppler has high frequency probe for arterial and venous color Doppler facilities for Inpatient and Outpatient. Intraoperative sonography guided laser ablation of varicose vein treatment is also offered in conjunction with vascular surgery department. Ultrasonograhy & Doppler Study CT Scan: The hospital is equipped with spiral CT. It routinely performs whole body CT scan. Spiral CT Scan MRI: This unit has 0.3T MR unit. All routine MRI examinations are done like MRI brain with angiography, venogram, spinal and MSK imaging.
